This hospital has so much potential. It’s a small ED in the Bay Area where cost of living is INSANE. There is a PIT area with usually 1 nurse who takes patients into these 4 slotted areas and moves them in and out while they wait for a room if needed. A lot of patients in my opinion were mis-triaged and should have been placed in a different area. The main ED is 13 beds and 4 of those are for psych patients. There is a lot of homeless/drugs/alcohol patients. But I found that the patient population itself wasn’t that bad. For the most part, the patients were still respectful of the hospital staff. All of the managers are horrible and unfriendly. Unapproachable. And good luck getting the lead manager to answer you about ANYTHING. It was so bad that I had to reach out to my recruiter who got the experience specialist involved to reach out to the facility because the lead manager ignored you. The scheduler is the same way. My schedule was regularly wrong, and the last week of my contract they didn’t even schedule me a 3rd day and neither the manager or the scheduler answered 2 of the emails I sent about it. The managers are also personally friends with the techs who are bullies and lazy, so discipline doesn’t exist. The techs on nights with the exception of one were lazy and rude. Actually more like bullies. The only things the techs can do are EKGS and transport. That’s literally it. The unit clerks are also rude with the exception of 2 of them. The nurses can be cliquey as well. A lot of talking about people behind their backs. As for the doctors, most of them were approachable. I had a couple who didn’t like collaboration from the nurses or you really had to prove your point to them to get them to do something for you and your patient. I got a 30 min unpaid lunch and 45 min paid break every single day. They usually have 2-3 break nurses. They use epic. Overall, unless they got new management entirely, I would not return. I hated going to work by the end of it.
