| I had an overall good experience at this hospital. Ratio was 1:3 on the step down units, sometimes 1:4. I will say at first they very obviously gave travelers the heaviest assignments and floated them constantly (to be expected, I guess) but as I got to know everyone, that stopped. Management was good, they let me do 6 on/8 off and honored schedule requests. They have some cool resources, like a rapid response RN team you can call for advice. Something to be aware of is that this is very much a teaching hospital and you’ll be working with many residents. Absolutely not hating on them, just be aware. Also, the patient population is wild sometimes. You’ll see a lot of psych/homeless/victims of violence/inmates/substance abuse/etc. But I learned so much and would work there full time in a heartbeat if I lived locally. Loved the team. side note: they have some really cool food trucks available… even at night! |
