| Expect to unsurprisingly be floated every shift after your 2 days of orientation on your assigned unit. Nursing staff are fairly nice and helpful in their critical care units, any other floor you will be thrown to the wolves with a float welcome sheet. Need to contact a provider? Good luck. You’re gonna have to dig for their contact information in about 3 different places if there is no recent provider/resident note. Their version of epic is the clunkiest and least user friendly I have ever experienced. Ego very frequently gets in the way of patient care. Don’t expect to be able to bring up a change in status with your provider and have an appropriate intervention or further investigation into your concern, continue to monitor has been a staple treatment. Attendings and APP’s are in no way, shape, or form going to see any value in your assessment. These practitioners do not even trust their own staff nurses and have made it deliberately difficult to do your job as a nurse outside of your patient coding. Not the type to roll over and just follow orders? Get ready for constant pushback and dismissal. If you have any sort of critical thinking skills and care about your patients-AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. |
