Great unit overall. Management, however, not the strongest. I’m working almost every weekend and fill holes so my schedule is not great. Manager made the unit sound like labor and PP were more separate and that there was also a separate NICU and ā€œbaby teamā€. However, this is LDRP at its’ finest. Makes sense as it’s a rural hospital, just wasn’t advertised that way. We use the main OR and do not circulate most cases. Whoever is free will transition baby and then you take over on couplet care. There is a nursery nurse on each shift, but if there’s a baby in the nursery they aren’t out on the floor. If there isn’t a baby admitted to nursery, they’ll take couplets and transition your baby if able/free. No docs or anesthesia in house. Friendly staff who are all so helpful and kind! Manager was super iffy on communication and is kind of passive/sneaky. Staff is great though and I haven’t had any real issues other than little bumps in trying to extend my contract or get vacation time on my contract. Some shifts we have no patients and some I have a labor + a triage + a couplet depending on how the staffing and census is. Overall a great unit if you need a little break from the bigger hospitals. Happy to have extended here!
