| This was my first strictly peds contract. It was a serious learning curve from the adult world. With that being said, majority of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had a few hiccups with personality clashes, but I think once I got past that, things became more smooth sailing. I was on edge often because I felt like I had something to prove and I was out of my comfort zone. In reality it was my own brain getting in the way and not the facility. Ratios never exceeded 4. I always got a lunch break. Most staff were friendly and helpful. The patient population was one of the best I have experienced, and the manager was exceptional. I wish I could give more info about the scheduling because I think that maybe travelers had the option to self-schedule? But I never did so I can't really give good feedback in regard to that. I would absolutely return to this ED if the chance presents itself. I am a better nurse because of my experience at Valley Children's. I truly believe that. |
